The little hillside streams cut away the peat exposing the bleached heather roots.

Back up a hillside, a stream and signs of life.

Clambering over a stream and past a huge boulder revealed a beautiful miniature waterfall.

I love the colours of these Scottish hillsides.

a promis of things to come.

More sunbeams break through the clouds...

Water, water everywhere.

Clouds descend on the hilltop we leave behind.

Heading back down the hill.

Sunshine towards Durness.

The wind and rain stop for a few minutes. Enough time for Em and Ben find an outcropping to pretend its the top. Blue seems unfazed by the weather and the climb, unlike the rest of us.

A rainbow.

We crossed a field of rocks like stepping stones. one false step and it was into the cold water.

sunbeams sought us out like searchlights.

Giant hills in the distance as we attempt a proper hillclimb.

and another.

the promise of a rainbow.

The slats in the fence cover the garden in these wonderful light stripes.

and another garden picture.

another view from the garden towards the beach this time.

A view from the doorway of our rented house. A ruined cottage is by the water begging to be rebuilt.

The door to a woodcrafting shop in Balnakeil craft village.

with Balnakeil house in the distance.

Heading back...

Even the cows have been here too. leaving only their hoofprints behind.

A shepards hut that is slowly being enveloped by the dunes makes a perfect spot to hide from the wind.

Highland cows. ok maybe theyre not brown, horned and hairy but they're cows and live in the highlands :)

and what it would look like in a years time.

I wonder how long it took for the wind to create this.
