The Friday was a perfect day in Sheringham. While waiting for the train I took a couple of pictures of a sign near the wreck of a 19th century ship that sank with its cargo of ice from Norway.

  1. I think with all the ice needed for the fishing industry whatever ice could be stored in ice cellars didn't last into the summer. So to keep the fish and crabs cold for transit they had to get ice from the nearest place that had it. hmmm in a world of fridges and freezers we rather take ice for granted now, it must have been very valuable before.
